Blossoming Into A Pseudo Nerd

     Eighteen months ago, I was just a "normal" person.  Then a twist of fate brought me in touch with an old friend, who is an ultimate nerd (I mean this in a good way! *grin*).  As our relationship grew, so did my inner nerd!  It is like a whole new world has opened up! I find this new place in life to be fun, intellectually stimulating, challenging and fascinating.  Although the many interests of a nerd are multifaceted, my transformation has focused on four areas, gaming,  t.v /movies, reading and technology.
   
   Of course the most fun part of the transformation is the GAMING!  WOW (level 72 Tauren among other lower level characters), Dungeons and Dragons, Left 4 Dead and anything on Steam!  I am addicted!  And the board and card games!  I do love them!  Stars Are Right, Grave Robbers From Outer Space, Small World, Zombie Dice, Magic Cards, etc.  The list goes on!  I have decided that the perfect evening out is to go to a nearby game store and then to the pub next door!
    
    In the past few years I have not been an avid t.v. watcher or movie goer.  My viewing mainly consisted of classic t.v. and whatever Disney or Pixar movie my kids wanted to see.  I have defiantly expanded my viewing.  Favorite t.v. shows now include The Big Bang Theory and Dr. Who and Firefly!   I also anxiously waiting for new seasons of The Guild!   I can also add Tron, Avatar, Zombieland and Serenity to my list of great movies!


     I find that as I continue down this new path, that my reading habits have drastically changed too!  Guess what?  There are fantastic books out there that are not sappy love novels!  Don't get me wrong, I still love a good vampire love story, but I find the world's of Cory Doctorow and H.P. Lovecraft fascinating and thought provoking!  I also find myself reading more current political stories and researching past events, so I am up to speed!  But all is not serious and tech in the world of nerd reading!  Just for fun, there is nothing like a good zombie read!


    Finally, I have become much more aware of technology and the internet!  My favorite new toy is my Kindle!  I think it is so cool to have all of those books right at my fingertips!  It is almost magical that if I see a book I like, I can have it on my Kindle in a matter of seconds ready to read!  In addition,I  have a Roku that is a tiny box that brings the whole world into my bedroom! I love it!  My laptop is never far from my side and frequently visited sites include Goodreads,   Blogspot, Aljeezera Streaming (for the past few days) and just search sites to look for new information!  I have also had a blast creating a customized igoogle page!   


     I know I still have a lot to learn about this world and I am very excited about the prospect!  Luckily, I expect it will be a never ending journey!
